MARIA EUGENIA MOYA
Finger Grater
Finished ceramic sculpture from ongoing project "Substitutes".
A collection of ceramic tools where components of each tool have been substituted with fingers or teeth, meticulously crafted from molds of the artist's body. This series delves into the profound concept of tools as extensions of the human body, particularly focusing on fingers and nails—the primal tools of our ancestors. These pieces evoke a captivating synesthetic experience, where the visual imagery seamlessly evokes sensations of touch and even sound. One can almost hear, for instance, the faint scrape of the Grater's nails.
